![]() It was the dream stay - we'll never forget it. The Dordogne region is perfect if you want a great dining experience, combined with beautiful scenery and history. We had 9 beautiful nights there on our own ! Road noise is definitely not a problem (as I read on another review) because the property is set back far enough and the road is not that busy (it's pretty much dead quiet after say 7pm).The best days were when we stopped touring and stayed at the Chateau - we'd go to the local markets in the morning, buy top quality fresh produce from the region and have it for lunch back at the Chateau with lovely local wines - heaven ! The pictures on the website are accurate, the grounds are fantastic (40 acres), they even have 2 very friendly Fresian horses who we loved to keep company. It's perfectly situated just far enough away from Perigueux to getaway from it all and yet close enough to drive in for dining/shopping (10 to 15 mins). We did have a slight plumbing problem which was fixed while we went out touring. They were very helpful and served us great breakfasts every morning which also included some relaxing & enjoyable conversations with them ! The rooms are huge with high ceilings and lovingly restored. The owners are a modest, unobtrusive couple (Jose & Dianna) who are never far away (living next door). Not perfect in every regard, but damn good, totally authentic and enjoyable. My partner works in the Luxury Hotel industry and even she was extremely impressed. It was the perfect choice for our honeymoon. OK first of all we stayed at this chateau based on the reviews I read on this site. We had a fantastic stay here and felt like kings and Queens in our own castle.… From the start we was made to feel at home by the owners who stayed in a house next to the chateau. This is a great base to explore the surrounding countryside and we visited st emilion, beynac castle and perigueux where we found some great restaurants near the cathedral. There is a large pool at the side which we managed to use despite inclement weather. Two of our party are pescaterians and they was catered for as well. Never have I eaten such a wonderful meal until we asked him to make another for my sisters birthday on the Thursday. There is a large kitchen for your use but we asked José to make us a meal for our first night and it was a five course five star feast served in the magnificent dinning room. All the rooms are very large and very plush with very large beds and modern bathrooms and shower enclosures. José and Diana (the owners) greeted us and showed us around telling us a brief history of the chateau then left us to fight over bedrooms. The drive opened up to reveal the magnificent castle (chateau). I didn't think the van would fit in but we had just enough room. As we arrived down a side track we tooted our horn and the automatic gates opened. We drove up from burgerac airport where we hired a minibus, flights with flybee from Birmingham. What with knocking and cries, they could scarcely arouse him for an agony of fifteen minutes.Me my brother and sisters, with spouses, stayed here for a weeks holiday in june 2016. On, by foot, to Bretenour, they hurried in the gathering darkness but there the gatekeeper of the bridge was fast asleep. It was a few years ago, but here is my trip report. Font de Gaume and Marquessac Gardens both were stand out experience. ![]() Puisjallon, who shouldered the bundle containing their religious dress. Of all our France adventures The Dordogne will reman my favorite. Trembling, they awaited their servitor, Mr. At the outskirts of the town Sister Bernard Bouyon joined her, likewise dressed. Accordingly, at six in the evening of April eighth, Pauline Laurier, in peasant dress, her aristocratic feet encased in sabots like those of the market women, paused an instant in the crowd on the bridge over the Dordogne. There was no way out of it for Pauline Laurier desperation must devise a way to get her out of town. But the most illustrious of the band – everybody knew and loved her as Sister Stanislaus Laurier – what was to be done about her? The Laurier family were of noble blood and the very leaders of the storm. “The eight Beaulieu sisters set their teeth and decided to go with them (Boulogne sisters).
